Georgia Tech’s next major development is Arts Square, located between the southern edge of campus and Science Square. Georgia Tech’s Comprehensive Campus Plan (GTCCP) shows a future shift in campus layout, with the addition of new buildings and green spaces. Phase 1 of our proposal shows phytoremediation techniques for the site’s polluted soil with a Performing Arts Center and revitalized Randall Brothers performance venue. Phase 2 imagines the site in the future, with additional buildings around the perimeter. The Performing Arts Center becomes a theater and a vibrant production space. Artists and visitors alike can see into workshops, rehearsal spaces, studios and labs, showing the arts in all stages of production. A light-filled galleria draws a connection from campus to Marietta Street, becoming a welcoming gateway to Arts Square and a central space for exhibitions. The site is designed to the regenerative sustainability standards of the CORE Green Building Certification. The mass timber structure, Southern Yellow Pine groves, and spaces for creation honor the legacy of Randall Brothers as an important part of the history of Atlanta, GA since 1885.
